  • 2 big bowls chickpeas, soaked and boiled until tender
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 mug basmati rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large tomato, pureed
  • 1 thumb-sized piece ginger, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pinch cumin seeds
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 hefty spoon coriander powder
  • 1 small spoon red chili powder
  • 1 pinch garam masala
  • 1 handful fresh coriander
  • 1 splash oil for the curry
  • 1 pot full oil for deep frying
  • 1 pinch salt
