  • 3 bowls chilled day-old jasmine rice
  • 2 swigs vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 bulbs shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2 fingers red bird's eye chilies, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon toasted shrimp paste (terasi)
  • 1 handful diced chicken breast or small shrimp
  • 1 fistful shredded cabbage and matchstick carrots
  • 3 glugs kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 splash light soy sauce
  • 1 pinch sea salt and white pepper
  • 2 units eggs, fried sunny-side up
  • 1 pile krupuk (prawn crackers)
