  • 2 mugfuls pearl barley, soaked for 2 hours
  • 1 fat link smoked Kranjska klobasa (or similar smoked sausage)
  • 3 fingers carrots, roughly chopped
  • 2 fists potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 heaped palm yellow onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 swig lard or vegetable oil
  • 1 pinch dried marjoram
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1 potful water or smoked meat broth
  • 1 handful fresh parsley, chopped
